Default Pocket 77 in Big Blind

PokerStars Game #2638927744: Tournament #12672505, Hold'em No Limit - Level VI (100/200) - 2005/09/22 - 23:07:01 (ET)
Table '12672505 43' Seat #9 is the button

This is a turbo tourney and we're nowhere near the bubble.

Hero has $3150 in BB - Dealt 77
2 folds, MP1 all in 1350, 3 folds, button calls 1350(840 left), Small Blind calls 1250 (90 left)

Hero ????

I did insta-muck, however, in retrospect I got to thinking about the 3:1 odds...77 against three others to the river has what chance? Any math types out there?

You should know not to call 3 pushes with 77?

You could try pokerstove, I personally have never used it but it'll do what you want in this situation. The problem is, you're basically assured an overpair in this situation. And even if not, there will be probably 4 overcards. You need to hit a set to have any shot, and if a flush comes in you may still be boned.

LOL...ok, you're right. I did fold, but I guess when I saw the morons turn up in order ATs, A8s and QJs, I started to second guess myself.....not to mention the 7 on the flop... LOL. Don't get me wrong, I'm not lamenting a bad beat, but I am curious on the math and don't have pokerstove. Next purchase I guess. I would have put them on AK, AQ and JJ-AA. So in a four way pot to the river, what are my odds on that range? -EV I'm sure.

Still. That means AQJT8 and no 7 on the board and you lose? And this was a dream scenario with no overpair. This really is a no brainer.

Just because you would have lucked out this one doesn't make it a call.

Against the hands you were up against, you win 25% of time
which is not good. Against any combination of overcards and overpairs, you're about 20-16% to win...Definately not a good spot to put your tournament life on the line
