Default 88 vs Rock\'s Preflop raise

0.50/1 Hold'em (9 handed)

Preflop: Hero is MP1 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img].
UTG folds, UTG+1 folds, Hero calls, MP2 raises, MP3 folds, CO calls, Button folds, SB calls, BB folds, Hero calls.

MP2 had a VP$IP under 10 after 100+ hands, so I figured that the raise signified a higher pocket pair or AKs.

Flop: (9 SB) 4[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, MP2 bets, CO calls, SB calls, Hero calls.

Raise here really signals high pocket pair to me, but with with 2 more callers I limp along.

Turn: (6.50 BB) 7[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
SB checks, Hero bets, MP2 raises, CO folds, SB folds, Hero calls.

7 made me want to bluff at this thinking he might lay down a pocket pair considering how tight he had been. His Re-raise was very surprisng, but now I felt the pot was too big to fold with what I felt to be 6 outs (5 if he had diamonds).

River: (10.50 BB) 6[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets, MP2 calls.

Got what I needed, but should I have raised? I was hoping to be re-raised again.

Final Pot: 12.50 BB

Any suggestions?

Against a rock I would c/r the flop. If he 3-bets it or c/r the turn I'm gone. If he just has two overcards you'll be way ahead, but youll need to gain that information somehow

Bet or check/raise the flop and see how he reacts.
