Six of the world's best poker players will compete for the $80 million kitty, with the winner to take all in a series of elimination matches in July.

This is still retarded. Why would even the top pros risk that much when they could have a really bad 6-hour run of cards??

Well there's a 20 million dollar overlay. Presumably they will forbid chopping or you'd probably see a six way chop. With a winner take all format, it's hard to see how they get six players. In Sklanksy bucks, it might make sense, if you figure you win one out of six you're 5-1 to win and getting a 7-1 payday (and a guy like Ivey probably figures he's something like 2-1 against to win), but given the stakes and that there are a limited number of these tourneys, it looks like a proposition few players would be bankrolled or inclined to take on.

Hadn't heard this. A huge overlay is the only way I could see anyone putting up that much money.

Once you pay taxes on that $60 million how much overlay is left? No way anyone plays in this without a chop beforehand.

Maybe everyone legally emigrates beforehand to a country that doesn't tax gambling winnings
