Re: Dallas underground on the news.
Man, these places are everywhere in just about every city and town in the United States that doesn't have ready access to legal cardrooms. Next thing you know, they're going to do an expose on why drug laws don't work.
I live in Houston and if poker in Dallas is anything like it is here (and I hear Dallas is a big-time stop on the circuit), 30 games is a massive understatement. And as far as fretting about the cops - they have more important things to worry about than busting card games. Every cop and DA I have ever spoken to say that it's a victimless "crime" and so long as there's nothing else going on like unlicensed alcohol sales or hookers or drugs, they don't give a damn if people want to get together to play cards and are willing to pay someone a little bit to organize things. TV news is a damn joke. |

Re: Dallas underground on the news.
I am shocked! Shocked! to hear that there is gambling going on in Dallas.
The only thing that would be more shocking would be drugs, or prostitution, but I'm sure none of that sort of thing ever happens in Dallas. |

Re: Dallas underground on the news.
The trouble is, if the news media and politicians raise enough of a stink, the cops and prosecutors may decide to make some token busts, just to show that they are doing something about the "problem".

Re: Dallas underground on the news.
Surprised the chief of police isn't sitting at the 50/100 table. In the days of Al Capone he always treated the top cop in his district to freebies at the speakeasys and joy houses he ran, it's good for business.

...30 games is a massive understatement. [/ QUOTE ] Truer words have never been uttered. As a player in the Dallas/ Fort Worth area, I have been to several "clubs" and have had invitations to many others. The thrity that is quoted as a number is not even close. |

Of course, every now and then I'll tell someone about playing 3-6 or 4-8 and he'll say something like, "CRAP! That's a lot of money!!!" heh heh |
