Default Just got my Neteller Debit Card

Seems pretty straightforward but I have never had a debit card. Anything I should be aware of? Or beware of? I'm in the US, BTW.

Yes. There is. It pretty much sucks .

You have to load money into your "debit card" balance via the website, which is different than your standard balance. Furthermore, they take a bite out of any transaction, and a pretty solid one. Something like $2 a purchase or something.

Have fun!

Easiest way to do it is withdraw all you need in one go at an atm (dunno what you guys call it in the states, cash machine??). You get charged about $2 for withdrawing to the card and another $2 or so when at the atm.

So $4 a week. Sure a bank would be cheaper, but this is all pretty easy.

Thanks for the replies. I would read the fine print but after squinting at four tables all day this is easier. Plus, I am a lazy sack of crap.

Any limits to what you can withdraw at one time?

What's the point of this debit card when most b&m banks will give you a free checking acct + visa check card for free?

Depends on the machine. Best I've found are Bank One and Bank of America - their machines will let you take out $800 at a time (that little slot can only fit so many bills through it lol). Most smaller banks won't let you take out this much.

If possible, never let go of the card when you use it in an ATM (slide it in/slide it out). It is a policy of some banks that the ATM destroy the card because there is no name printed on the card.

Just find one that works all the time, and if you're out of town, never let go of that card .. otherwise you're f'd.
