Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
I do prefer the Orleans for several reasons:
1) When you arrive at the hotel and start playing in their pokerroom you go to the floorperson in charge and tell him that you stay at their hotel and want pokerrates. They tell you to play some poker and contact them again. When you play for 3 or 4 hours and ask them again the say that itīs ok and you get the rate for the rest of your stay. You donīt have to play 5 or 8 hours a day to get the rate, like in other rooms. Pokerrates are something like 45$ weekdays and 90$ on weekends (at least it was back in November 2002). Rooms are nice and definitly worth the price. 2) If you like to play tourneys (as I do) itīs the best pokerroom in town. 3) With the money you spare, compared to the price the Mirage or Bellagio take for their rooms, you can rent a car. So if you want to play in these rooms you still can do it (BTW, they have a free shuttle to the Barbary Coast, too) Good luck in Vegas and have fun Martin Aigner |

Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
I don't play Vegas very often, but I believe the Orleans has a very unusual structure for blinds and bring-ins. They are smaller than usual. The result is lots of people tend to play on the first round, but then no money is in the pot so everyone folds on the flop. I didn't like it much.
I don't know if this is still true. |

Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
NY NY has one (that's right one!) poker table, so....
ALl of the downtown hotels have really small rooms - about the size of the Luxor's. Binion's the is largest but I'd almost rather tie meat to myself and jump in the shark tank at Mandalay Bay than play 10 - 20 at Binions |

This used to be true of their smaller games. Clarkmeister told me the Orleans recently (with the past 4 months) changed to a normal structure for all their games. |

Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
I have to pick my wife up from work at New York, New York and I've never seen live poker there.
I've come to learn of a lot of secret passage ways inside the hotel from all of my years hanging out in the hotel. If I know the secret hallways the "private dancers" use to get to the hotel rooms, I think I would have stumbled upon a live poker game on the main floor :-) Heck, the place does not even have a buffet! Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
i usually stay at the Stardust (strip) close to the mirage and Bellagio for 25$ a night 35$ in the weekends..asked for the rooms in the back..You need to play 3 hours a day..you will get a 5$ food comp and you can play the tournament free roll (1000$) every week..Also you get a lottery ticket every time you sit down...There is got action (poor players). 3 tables.. playing holdem or stud..3/6$ games or higher...If you need the telephone numbers or more info just ask..
Anyway good luck and have a great time in Vegas. |

Re: Las Vegas Poker Room rate hotel question
We were there in June and there was a poker table sitting off to the side in the high roller pit as you come down the escalator into the casino on the left hand side. It was just sitting there.
