On the Airbuses that JetBlue uses, the flight attendants unlock the backs of the exit rows and the ones in front when the plane is at cruising altitute.

aisle bulkhead for room
front if your connection time is short back for less noise and saftey over wing is safest i think but too noisy middle seat so i can take both armrests and make the fat people suffer the most.
