We might currently have the best hand (although not too often), and we have anywhere from 9-14 outs, or 36-58% equity (when behind on the flop!). It also builds our folding equity if we want to bet the turn, or gives us a free card often enough if we want it. |

Yeah, the flop raise is standard as hell. As for the river, bet/folding never really crossed my mind, but the only reason i'd do it is if I thought he would check behind a jack...but his stats don't seem to suggest he would.
