lost ~90% of BR
bad run, bad play, tilt, not stepping down soon enough, etc.
My roll was at $25K at one point. Now it's under $2K. I play NL. My regular game was 5-10 blinds. I'd buy-in for $500 live and $1000 online. The past 2 months have been cruel. Anyone experience anything similar and if so, could you provide me with some words of wisdom or some advice? Should I take a break and get a real "job" and save money so that I can go back to my regular stakes? Should I start at NL $25 and try to work my way back up? Today I tried to play 1/2 blinds but the stakes seem so low that I play too loose it seems. I'm really frustrated and stressed and my life seems very miserable because of my roll. |

Re: lost ~90% of BR
Pretty easy to see the right answer to this question.
Step down to a level low enough that you have a low ROR and grind it out. Wow, that was hard. Also quit whining. Thousands of people died horrible deaths this week, and you feel like the last two months have been "cruel". Suffering is a part of life. Learn to accept that or kill yourself. I don't really care which. |

Re: lost ~90% of BR
thanks, great answer. You don't have to be snide with your remarks. Just say suck it up or don't whine. Saying stuff like you don't care if I kill myself is just rude.
Yes, I know thousands have died this past week just like hundreds or probably thousands die all over the world without hurricanes or tsunami's. Doesn't mean that the past two months still weren't cruel. I was just trying to describe what it felt like recently in my life and what it still feels like today, although I'm not dying so to speak. anyhow, yeah, think I'll grind it out. peace. |

Re: lost ~90% of BR
there is almost no chance you are a winning player if you lost that much of your roll playing those games.
You are making lots and lots of mistakes and aren't playing the game correctly. My advice to you is learn the game. |

Re: lost ~90% of BR
I've been in your boat, and for what it's worth, I recommend playing within your bankroll, say 2/4 limit holdem, multitable at least 4 tables, and set a hand limit to reach each day. Say 1000 hands to start.
At the end of each day, go over your days session stats in PT and realize you probably play too loose. Repeat next day. For what it's worth, there's some quick easy money to be made casinowhoring too, if you need a poker break. |
