simple hand... thoughts?
Party Poker (9 handed) converter
Preflop: Hero is Button with Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. early call call, MP3 villain raises, late Hero 3bets, all folds. Flop: 2[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 3[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players) villain bets, hero calls Turn: K[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] (2 players) villain bets, hero calls River: A[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players) All checks Final Pot: No reads. I was waiting for the turn to raise but didn't like the K. On the river, I planned to call a bet if he bet. When checked to, I wasn't sure if it was worth a bet or not. |

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
I'd bet the river and fold to a raise.

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
Would I be wrong in raising the flop, expecting to call the re-raise? I say that, as I want to know what the flop gave him, he may just be betting it as he 3-bet preflop. This would then narrow his range of hands. The turn doesn't really tell me anything new either, but I would probably call it down too.
(I'm learning here too, so please tell me where I'm going wrong.) BTW, what are the limits here? |

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
The fact that he only called your 3-bet PF and then bets out the flop makes me think you're way ahead of some hand like JJ or 99, maybe something like AT/KT. Point is, villain thought he had a good hand preflop, backed down to your aggression, and then liked the flop enough to bet out into you.
I'd advocate calling and popping him on a safe turn card. Unfortunately, the K is an ugly card for you so I'd just call again. Value bet the river when he checks to you. |

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
Not raising the flop is a big mistake. See the trouble you're in now that you decided to slowplay it? I think this is a perfect example of why not to do it.

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
I think you definitely want to raise the flop here. Besides getting some money in when you have the best hand it may also keep him in check and prevent his turn betting if he has another pocket pair or some sort of TPTK.
I think I raise the flop, and call a turn bet (or bet if checked to) and c/c on the river. (Though be mindful of my post count... ) |

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
I also think you should raise the flop. If he has a hand like AK, you are a big favorit. Make him pay to draw out. Also, you cannot be sure that he will continue to bet on the turn. If he checks to you, you will simply have lost the bet you could get out of him on the flop.

Re: simple hand... thoughts?
The fact that no raise goes in on the flop or the turn makes me cry softly.
