I don't enjoy -EV gambling games enough to do them for their own sake, I feel the same way about video games though. they are fun for 5 minutes but I would feel like I was wasting my time if I played on a regular basis.

I am not really very competitive either, at least in the same way an athelete might be. I am interested in finding and exploiting my opponent's weaknesses in a problem solving kind of way, not really in a "I hate this guy and I want to bust him" kind of way.

I wonder sometimes if this will prevent me from playing a lot bigger, but then I remember I don't really care too much about that.

But I see absolutely no reason why someone with the exact same skills, discipline, and everything else that's important to poker as me except more "love of gambling" will do better than I will.

I like playing poker, but I dont love it. I think u need to be a gambler to really love poker.

Someone who likes it will play and think about poker a lot. Someone who loves it will play and think about poker 24h/day, 7 days/week.

I was ready to put myself in the "no gamble" camp, but then I started thinking about all the things I have bet money on over the years:

Darts
Ping-Pong
One on one basketball
Correct lyrics to a Black Flag song
Golf
Whether a friend could dunk a basketball (with 3 months of training)
Arrival time (Ohio to Panama City)
A backyard boxing match I was in
Semester GPA
If I could eat $20 worth of food at Taco Bell

I think I'm going to be honest with myself here and say, I like to gamble.

Yes, I won that one. I might add this was in the late 90's when the mexican pizza was the most expensive item on the menu, my strategy involved eating a lot of those and a couple of steak soft tacos. I was very full.
