Should help them in the one run games. that and some regression to the mean will(should) put them right up there with the other two.

It was important for the jays to start signing good players after they got the television deal in Canada. Improving the pitching is key obviously, too bad no team in the AL East can make the playoffs because of the Yankees and Red Sox (unless some kind of miracle).

Obviously I am biased because I am a Jays fan, but last year without Halladay getting injured they defintley are a over 500 and maybe as many as 90 wins. IMO Halladay + Burnett + Ryan can add 10-20 wins to a 79 win team last year. Also Russ Adams, Aaron Hill, Rios, Gross, Chacin, are all getting better IMO. Than again for those guys a sophomore slump or plateau argument could be made just as easily. It appears as if the Yankees are getting worse this offseason, and if the Red Sox deal Manny they will also be getting worse so don't count out the Jays.

Blue Jays won 80 games and underperformed their pythag by 8. They have a strong shot at the AL East this year.

Am I the only person who thinks its crazy for them to pay that kind of money to a 29 year old who has been a closer for only a season? Yeah he was solid last year, but thats almost Rivera money they're giving him.

You're not the only one, but to say he was "solid" is like saying Angelina Jolie's breasts are decent. B.J. Ryan has been lights out for the last two years.

Anyone else a bit confused by the fact that his given name is Robert Victor?

I'm guessing it's Bob, Jr.

My given name is Darrel Paul but most call me DJ: Darrel, Jr.
