Default Serious question

For us semi-beginners, what's the consensus best way to play a flopped full house like that? Smooth-call the flop and check-raise the turn? That probably wouldn't be enough to get treys full out for another big bet, I wouldn't think.

DISCLAIMER: Yeah, I know it depends on pot size, your read of the table, and a million other variables. I'm just asking.... in general.

raise the turn if opponent is likely on a draw, raise the river if opponent is likely to have a hand he would call with.

Not a Magoo, Al. Sorry. If you'd had +2 opponents, they had been raising into you pre flop and on the flop, then again on the turn, you'd have a Magoo. I'd say that was a Hellmuth.

bwahahahaha......

Al rules. His hypnosis power tricked his opponent into passivity, allowing him to suckout on the river.

"Oh you Magoo, you've done it again"

Al, I would argue that THE OTHER player was the MAGOO and it was their OWN stupidity on playing Capt. Passive on a flopped boat that did them in, of course after the turn, you weren't going anywhere, that and fact they paid a raise PF with BIG LICK.

My favorite magoo bashing hand is r/r nut straight, while I am betting all the way, I know damn well after the turn I need that 2nd perfect card, has a 50/50 chance of putting that magoo on TILT, a 100% chance if they are male and over 65.

Are you new? Was he supposed to c/r chotchy hero off his hand on the flop? Now, granted, he should lead out on the turn, but letting your opponents catch up a bit when you flop a boat is not bad play.

Against most loose low limit games...

Bet! Bet the flop, bet the turn. Hope someone has the case six and doesn't hit their overcard kicker by the river. Reraise if you get raised. Checking all the way to the river (trying for the ultra-dramatic river check-raise) will usually manage only to win you a much smaller pot.

True, true.

For Uber-Magooey play tho youz mugs should come to one of my low limit home games. We play for like $10 or $20 buy-in. Usually we start with limit holdem with a kill, and sometimes mixed games, but it usually gets to no limit by the end.

Last time I won five pots in a row (four of them kill pots) without ever looking at my hand. Runner-runner diamonds? No prob, I turned over the Ad. Flop three hearts? I bet to the river, only to find Qh7h in the hole!

After I finally lost one, Photoc then won four in a row himself without looking!

MA-GOO! It's a lot more fun to play poker BAD than GOOT.

Whats better? 2 small bets and one big bet or 2 big bets and one small bet. You may choose only one.

Re-read the origional post Kaz.... the villain played horribly on the turn. He therefore gets what he deserves.
