Starring Burt Lancaster, Peter Riegert (Boone in "Animal House"), Dennis Laswon ("Star Wars"), Jenny Seagrove and Peter Capaldi

Perhaps my favorite film of all time and the movie I love more than any other. It's perfectly indescribable yet utterly magical. Funny, moving, and one of a kind. Check it out.

an italian film that was actually critically acclaimed (maybe that disqualifies it), but didn't do well at all box office wise. i've rarely found others who have seen it, but it's amazing.

It is good but I can see why it would not appeal to the action movie crowd.

Yeah, the music in Local Hero is by Mark Knopfler...it was his first movie score. And it's also one of the reasons why the movie works so well.

Hope and Glory, story of a boy growing up during WWII in England. I enjoyed it.

I don't know if this is obscure, but it's called La Haine (Hate). French movie, black and white, with subtitles, but great acting and a killer soundtrack.
