in las vegas on wednesday afternoon you have and easy fold on the flop. but in californ-eye-A the underpairs will so often bet into you that you can go into the deep calling mode figuring maybe 40% of the time you are ahead and just often enough you catch up to an ace with a king or a running straight to make it all worth it.

btw, i think a bet on the river should be considered.

Hey Beetz,

Reading your Aces/Kings posts, I am positive we had the same poker day yesterday. I finally deposited money into Party yesterday, and although it was great having the bet capped to me when I did have the made nut hand, getting these made nut hands seemed tough.

When I had A's, the board had 2 options, it could come 8 9 T, or it could come all 1 suit, without my suit. And of course the turn would complete the 4 straight or 4 flush on the board, and with a minimum 6 opponents, (for at least 3 bets each preflop) theres no way my A's will be good.

When I had K's, an A would flop. And I know at least one of those assholes has an A.

When I had Q's, the flop would be kind enough to put an A and a K up there, just to leave no doubt that my hand was bad. And of course there is no way in hell that Q's are good at the table then.

JJ hasn't won a hand for me in 2 months, despite the times I flop a set.

I think I was running as good as I ever have for preflop starting hands yesterday, but got hammered by the flops all day. Sorry you had such a rough time, but glad to hear I wasn't alone [img]/forums/images/icons/wink.gif[/img]

you should have raised on the flop. I know, it's hard to do when you are running bad, but this is standard operating procedure in larger games. you have position on the bettor, and even if he has AQ, he has to respect your raise and back off.

if he reraises again, you can muck. if he calls, you can take a free card and call the river. but don't roll over and play dead.
