Default Got myself in trouble with 88

Villan is loose agressive (<25 hands so not much of a read).

Party Poker 1/2 Hold'em (9 handed) converter

Preflop: Hero is UTG+1 with 8[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 8[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img].
1 fold, Hero raises, MP1 calls, 2 folds, CO calls, 2 folds, BB calls.

Flop: (8.50 SB) T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], Q[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (4 players)
BB checks, Hero bets, MP1 folds, CO calls, BB folds.

Check-fold the flop vs LAG?

Turn: (5.25 BB) Q[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, CO bets, Hero calls.

I didn't trust this guy so called again...

River: (7.25 BB) 9[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] (2 players),

My line was to check-fold...

I got myself in trouble by being agressive pre/post flop but weak-passive afterwards. Agree?

Cheers!

Just out of interest, why the raise preflop in early position ??

I wouldn't bet that turn.

A lag will bluff that card a lot.

Check/call

Good question. I havn't got a good answer but I was running good, showing down flushes and boats and wanted to continue showing strength after the PF raise.

Looks good. Check/fold on the river is good.

What would have to fall to make you call the River?

I don't like the Pre-flop Raise, it bloated the pot, making what should have been an easy Check/ Fold on the Flop hard for you.

I don't like the Turn Check/ Call at all. Not only because we are behind most of the time when he bets, but if we are ahead, we risk giving him a free card to at least a 6 outer most of the time.

My prf% with 88 in full games is 43%.

That said, raising is not simply a no-brainer from EP. I don't like it as much against several loose/aggressive opponents. If the table is leaning tighter and passive then it is great imo.

The thing you must consider on the turn is whether villain is aggressive enough to bluff-raise you with a draw.

Unless you think you can get most of them to fold, I think a raise pre-flop is a mistake. It's close though, and others will probably say open-limping is wrong here, but it's full ring, not 6-max.

As for the flop play. I'm not sure I bet that flop. A lot of people play hands that hit that flop and three players is too many for me to bet into with 3rd pair.

As you played it, I think you have to bet the turn. You aren't afraid of the Queen on the flop, so why are you afraid of it on the turn. Even if he doesn't have a Q, he might take a stab with a 5 when you wimp out.

my PFR with 88 is 20%!

I tend to open raise with it or else call. Good point about raising it vs LAG opponents though (which this table was full of -- YAY --).
