Default probability with 5 cards to come

anyone know how to figure out probability of hitting certain hands before the flop? for instance, the probability that you'll hit a flush when you hold 2 suited cards before the flop, or straight with 2 connectors, full house with a pocket pair, etc.

i've tried a couple different intuitive methods that don't work out to believable values.

thanks,

snott

Its not hard but sometimes tedious.

Let's say you want the probabillity of a flush if you hold Ah 7h.

SO P(flush)= P(3 hearts on the board)

+ P(4 hearts on the board)

+P(5 hearts on the board)

= {11C3 (39 C2) + 11C4 (39) + 11C5}/50C5.
