Default \"some folks will like the FG a lot more than others\"

Lakers game on ESPN right now. I happen to know the line was LA - 6. LA is up 97-90, with a few seconds left.

Knicks steal the ball, and somebody (not sure who) drives down and jams it home, a most meaningless bucket. However, it makes the final score 97-92. It went from the Lakers covering to the Knicks covering.

I'm not really watching the game that closely, but I'm almost positive Brent Musberger (who I know was announcing) says "Some folks will like that field goal a lot more than others". It's almost as if he knows the line and impact of that shot.

Anybody else find this unusual?

Josh

Al Michaels talks about the betting line constantly on MNF. Especially in blowouts, he loves talking about the over/under. I'm sure Brent knew the line.

Wow. I almost always watch MNF in a casino, so I can't hear the commentary, but this shocks me. The NFL tries to distance themselves publicly from gambling (even though everybody knows a good portion of the NFLs success has to do with gambling). As such, I'm surprised they 'put up with' Michaels comments...

Not doubting you, just expressing my naivety, i guess.

he says it in a way that a non-gamblor wouldn't really think twice. Very brief and very implicit. Very much like BM's comment tonight.

Not only did that dunk cover the spread, it covered the 2nd half over as well

It shouldn't have if you got a good number.

I got 90.5, so the previous shot (by Robinson, IIRC) put it to 91. THe last dunk was gravy. I paid juice on my 90.5 (-120), so maybe you got 91 or 91.5....
