Default a free showdown hand

This is a good Borgata 10/20 game, mostly passive, most people suck.

UTG limps, I overlimp in emp with A [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]3 [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], button limps, blinds play.

Flop A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img]Q [img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]2 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]

SB (who plays draws aggressively, and just generally likes betting but calls way too much and isn't very good at saving bets or squeezing bets) bets, BB folds, UTG folds, I call, button calls.

Turn: 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], SB limps, I raise...

Why not just raise the flop for value and to get it HU with the LAG?

He's not a lag. He has a hand when he bets, be it a piece of the board or a draw.

But there's still a good chance you're ahead of him, right?

I like the raise because Button is still in the hand, he has 0-4 outs, and theres now 5 BBs in the pot. If it were HU I like calling better since its likely SB will continue betting the river and if we raise the turn we have to fold our draw.

Getting three-bet by someone behind me would suck. Raising the flop and being called cold would also suck. Calling the flop and being raised sucks. Seeing the player behind me call does not suck.

Yeah, if this were HU my line would be call-call-call or bet if checked to on any street.

I agree. I think a raise on the flop would not only maximize your chances of winning the hand (the button would be forced to fold), but would also save you 1/2 BB over the course of the hand if you don't improve (you will probably see the turn for free).

The button might fold to a flop call too.

Getting three-bet would indeed suck, but doesn't it at least give you the information you need to know you are beaten and should fold? Doesn't getting three-bet on the turn suck even more?

What hand correctly cold calls a raise in this situation?
