Default Flopped straight - deep NL100

Villain is 70/20/1.67. I have seen him make some very strange moves - I've seen him limp JJ twice and checking it all the way down when the flop came QQ8, and only betting the river small when undercards fell all the way.
He has CR all-in two times on the turn, having the nuts.

What do you do on the river? Check-call a reasonable bet? Value bet? Both the turn & river were scare cards, but I think he'd raised the flop with a set.

How about blocking for $35-$40?

I'd probably make it 50. Hard to say if this is a blocking bet or value bet tho (either way I think 50 is more effective; more money when we're ahead, and less likely to get blown off our hand by a worse one from villain)

Might be a possibility - but I'm not that much for a blocking bet when playing deep - it shows too much weakness, and villain will push me off with a weaker hand too often I think.

Disagree. It is VERY rare for someone to take a 2/3 bet on the river from you to be a blocker (assuming you did what I recommened and bet $50) at this level and on that dangerous of a board when you've fired 3 barrels and raise with something you beat.

What hand were you afraid of? 9T? TT? Wouldnt JJ reraise preflop? Would villain really check a made hand twice with that drawy of a board? If he had 2 pair or set he has to raise flop, and if he failed to do that then the turn would defintely be rasied for value. Sure played it like a draw , but maybe hes that tricky/dumb

I bet 55 expecting him to fold and gag if he pushes. The only hand i possibly see him calling with is 89s

After thinking about it, I agree $50 is better.

Hero fires $50, and reevalutes when raised. Hero calls most raises. Hero wins.

Blocking == bet to deter opponent from betting nothing with position?

I don't think OP's really afraid given the options he was considering:
