A short tournament
In a live $120 tournament at one of my favourite local rooms I witness the most astounding string of beats in the shortest time I've ever seen. 33 runners
Starting stacks are 2500, blinds start 25-50 and increase by a green chip every 30 mins. Before the end of the third level (75-150), The following had occurred. No allin bet was more than 2x the pot or less than 1/2 the pot, so these weren't allin bets of 50 into a 2000 pot. First hand is the betting hand, second hand is the calling hand. QQ allin vs. AK on a KK35 board, Q river. (Check-call flop, donkbet allin on the turn) AK allin vs. KT on a KT2 board, A turn, 3 river. (AK called KT's raise preflop and check-raised the flop allin) 55 reraises allin vs. TT on a 865 board, turn 9 river 7. 99 allin vs. A3 on a 633 board, T turn 9 river. (A3s raises preflop 99, three calls, and BB check-raises allin) Very next hand, A3 guy is now short: his AQ allin preflop vs. my AK, board comes KT9J3 Jd9d allin vs. KJ on a JxTd3x board, 4d turn, Ad river. (KJ bet and J9 raised allin, KJ was a maniac) AA allin preflop vs. KK board comes 832K4. QQ allin vs. TT on a JT8 board, turn 9 river T. (raise and QQ reraise preflop, QQ bets out allin) And the coup de grace, I am short and move 10 BB in with AsKs and get called by donk BB with AJ board comes A839J. This is all in a span of about 50 hands. Players at other tables kept coming over in between hands to see what happened next. We lost 6 players in two levels. What's more, all 6 players were busting from only 2 seats. |
