Default Couldn\'t happen to nicer bloke

If you live in Melbourne and play poker you play at Crown Casino. Joe Hachem is part of the furniture at the crown poker room and has been for over a decade. When news began filtering in that Joe was in the money an air of excitement began to grow, could it be possible that one of our own could take out the big one. No one would dare dream it. So when the final table got down to five with Joe short stacked I logged off at Cardplayer and went down to crown to play some hands. The staff were providing regular updates on Joes progress. "Joe has just doubled up with Q7d"
A huge cheer break out through out the room.
"News just in Joe has taken the chip lead" and eventually
"Joe Hachem has just won the WSOP ME with 73 off when he flopped the 2nd nuts" Every player stopped stood up cheered and clapped. Everyone who knows Joe will tll you that he is a very humble likeable guy and a hell of a poker player. I cant even begin to image what this is going to do for the image of poker in Australia. It's already booming this is going to send it into the stratosphere.

Congrats Joe, everyone at home is very proud of you.

From here on end 73 off will be known as The Hachy"

Brilliant!!!!!

We are all consumed by jealousy! Plus it's the middle of the night and stuff.

I congratulate the new champ and hope he will be a great ambassador for the game.

I think it's very cool that the locals are behind their guy. Hopefully he will do as good of a job as Raymer in promoting poker for the next year.

Hey I was excited, couldnt believe a Melburnian was in line to win the big one! Every time I checked he was still there. It was pretty exciting to have an Aussie doing so well.
I am not a Crown regular, but to re-iterate (& paraphrase Big Kev), I was excited!!

"I'd root for him if I didn't loathe Lleyton Hewitt."
Hmmmmm....... what can I say, fair enough.

The difference is he is unknown to us in the USA where you actually have some knowledge of him. I had my personal favorites who I was rooting for and both of them got drawn out on. So after my favorites were eliminated I became bummed out and rather apathetic on who actually won.

RRRRick,

I don't think this is the case at all!

I think it is great for poker that an Aussie won the ME and to hear that he is a good person is even more important.

Congrats to him and your poker community and country for providing the world with a new poker champ.

cheers. J.Brown
