Default Re: Things that irritate me

[ QUOTE ]
This is a short list of things that piss me off and seem to be making waves recently. I post them not to brag about my feelings/beliefs, but rather to get some feedback from those whose opinions differ from mine. I love debating these things so without further ado:
(*I'm sure I'm stealing some comedians act in some of this and to him/her I apologize)

1) Gay Marrige- two things, first people don't choose to be gay. I never chose to be heterosexual so I'm doubting that a homosexual person choose to be gay. Why would someone choose to be gay, just so they could get their ass kicked more in high school?
Secondly, people need to stop worring (sp?) about gays getting married as a threat to marrige. Marriage isn't sacred, and hasn't been for some time. Anything you can do drunk off you ass in a drive through in Vegas and have annuled (sp?) fifteen minutes later ISN't sacred. Besides, even if gays getting married leads to people marring dogs, what's the harm to you. Humans and dogs cannot reproduce as our chromesomal (sp?) count doesn't match up.
Also it is important to note that Gay Marriage is the compromise that liberals and conseritives made. Conservitives concided the Abortion debate and agreed that it was lost in exchange for the liberal silance about Gay Marriage. And don't kid yourselves, the real shame in this whole thing goes to the democrats who don't think gay marriage is wrong and still keep silence, offering no defence of gay people. At least Republicans stand for what they believe in, even when it's wrong.

2)Abortion- I have a novel idea lets use science (you know something we can prove) instead of religion to solve this one. A fetus fulfills the checklist for life (i.e. self awareness, etc.) at around 6 months. So we make abortion legal up until month five and illegal there after. Science is fun!

3) Bush was better, Kerry was better... No one was better, they are both bad candidates for the job. Not since Honest Abe Lincoln has the best man run for the job, and sadly that will probably never happen again. Such is life, but don't be too sad because...

4) The president is just the PR guy (I'm proud of this as I believe it is an original quote by me). The president has very limited power and he certainly is illequiped to run a country (any person would be). That's why he's surrounded by aids and helpers all the time, each of them acts as one of his arms or eyes.

5) Elect a party not a man. THis goes along with the above message. The man elected doesn't matter, but rather his party does. The parties have fundemental differences that you are choosing between, the person at the podium is of little interest.

6) Neither party is wholly good. Republicans want you to be economically free and socially restricted (see 1984), Democrats want you to be economically restricted and socially free (see Socialism). Both of their (i.e. the parties) outlooks are bleek. Republicans will impose (their) morals and force spirtual conformity, while Democrats will force economic conformity and run our countries economy into the ground (the sad truth is Socialism fails, one needs only look a Germany to see this-a great country with a bad economy only saved by the Euro).

So after all that what are we left with? We are left with the idea that we need another party and quick, or we're all screwed. We are also left with the realization that we have only ourselves to blame for the current political climate and that we are the only ones who can inspire change.

I agree with most of your statements above. However the statement that "Democrats will force economic conformity and run our countries economy into the ground" is blatantly false. Please refer to this country's economic history during the past 50 or so years for clarification. The statement that "the sad truth is Socialism fails, one needs only look a Germany to see this-a great country with a bad economy only saved by the Euro" really bothers me too. While socialism does fail, you are implying that Democrats are socialists, which is simply not true (regardless of what conservative mouthpieces say).
