I'm just the opposite, I enjoy Hosting home games. It does tick me off when I have committed players not show...

I love hosting games. But for me its a challange to get people together in the summer. Im in college and we could always get games during the school year just cant get a good turnout of friends in the summer.

I have found as long as I invite 20 people, at least 8 will probably show.....

But I agree, that is frustrating.

Here is an idea I have been thinking about....
When you organize the event, tell people they have to call/email you the day before to confirm thier attendance. If anyone ever confirms but does not show, for the next event, they have to pay the day before, instead of just calling or e-mailing.

What do you guys think?

I know for the people that come to my home game, that would just prevent them from coming.

I've had to cancel a few of my home games due to lack of players (God knows I invite plenty). I've been using eVite to manage the invitations, etc., but I still have people no-show. I've been toying with the idea of requiring everyone to PayPal me their entry fee a few days in advance, which would pretty much lock them into coming (no refunds!). That way, even if they don't show, I have enough prize money to go around. And those who don't do so can still play, they just have to make sure they're at my house in time for me to lay out a chip stack. (That'll also help to make sure the thing starts on time).

I'm kinda the "Poker Nazi" of my group - I like things to be done by the book, and on time. Most of my players either deal with it and comply, or don't come back. Either way, problem solved!

Play on!

when we were still limiting our bigger (bi monthly) tourneys to two tables (18) we had a few times where guys reservered seats for friends who didn't show and we had other guys on the wait list. Now, if you've played before and rsvp via email, you're good, although we give you crap if you don't show. But if you say you're bring a friend, and you're friend doesn't show, you're out his entry fee. It goes in the prize pool. We've actually enforced this a few times. This works really well.

My game is full nearly every week. I use Evite and all the regulars have until Thursday to reply. If it is not full, I have some many on the waiting list that I can usually fill it up before Friday.

Been having this game since September last year. Started with 6 people, now I am maxed at 30.
