Best ways to get increase your number of players as an affiliate?

Hey all,

I've been an affiliate for a while now, do alright, but decided to try to step it up. I've decided to go after signing up fish. That way they don't care about rakeback (cause I don't give it) and they'll play under me for a long time never leaving to sign up under someone else for rakeback (cause to them getting a new account etc. isn't worth it and they plain don't know about it).

Thing is I'm stuck on how to get new players. I refer people at the local casino to my website, and tell all my friends and tell them to tell their friends etc. etc.

I'm thinking about sending out 120,000 junk mail flyers that will cost $2,400. It'll just be a little ad with my site on it. What do you think about that, think it'll get some people?

What are other ways to get new/more players? I'm stuck and only getting 1 player per week, would like to increase that to 1 player per day. Also money to fund this "adventure" is not an obstacle as long as it stays under $15,000. So all tips can be expensive/ time consuming. Thanks in advance.

i dont think junk mail is a good idea... at all. too many people ignore it.

i would focus on targeted advertising. what age, sex, race are you going after? im going to assume your site is in english so you should dump advertising money into sites that get a lot of male viewers between the ages 20-25 from north america and europe.

Junk mail, whether email or regular mail is not worth the time. You need to find a way to reach your target audience. Learn your demographics and go after them. If you are a college student there are many ways to reach other students. Local sporting clubs have newsletters - cheap ads, bulletin boards, etc. Organize poker nights at local clubs - free gifts for winners if money prizes are not allowed.

What kind of site is it? A "sell the dream" site about big tournaments? A "poker is fun site" just getting people to try it? A "this is how to play" site with good information?

The kind of site should dictate how you go about trying to draw traffic to it.

It's a "I'm new to online poker and there's TONS of sites, which one do I play," and for exsisting players it's about how to play poker on your cell phone.

I am currently not a student (probably never will be again), but I have friends who are and can get me into college games etc.

This sounds like very good advice. The quesiton would then be.. What is the most effective way to reach 18-35yr old fish?

the standard business method for building warm markets is to keep in contact with people even when you don't have something to sell. talk to them, and ask questions with real interest and then when you have something to show them, they will be more likely to be interested. No, you can't fake it successfully. you have to be really interested in people to be good at this business.

hmmmmmmm, but how do I get brand new people? just start chatting it up while I play?
