Default 44 hand

This is a hand I played several days ago but it has been rattling around in my brain. It's possible I screwed up on more than one street here.

Very early on in a new live game (20/40 @ Hollywood Park), so reads are scarce.

An EP player limps, MP player raises. Folded to me in the BB with 44, I call.

Flop comes down 773r. I check, EP checks, MP bets, I raise, EP folds, MP 3-bets, I call.

Turn is a 2. Check, check.

River is 3. I bet for value...

Very standard

You guys don't think the turn is a bet/fold? If I'm putting him on A-high, why let him draw to 6 outs? Or is the problem with this that I don't want to get raised off the best hand and that if he calls I'm lost on the river?

Also, what's my plan if I get raised on this river bet? Call? I think I have to because I can't see him checking the turn through with a better PP.

the question is what you plan to do if he bets the turn.

You should bet either the river or the turn. Considering betting the turn might get him to fold 6 outs, I bet the turn, check the river.

I think you should be the turn. YOu prbably have the best hand, he'll probably call you with overcards, make him. If you bet the turn and he just called you could bet the river fro value anyway and that would be sexy as hell.

What's yoru read on him? People that 3bet the flop then check the turn OOP make me wary.

Hi Joker,

If he calls you, he has you beat with a pocket pair, so I hope he mucked.

I don't see him having just overcards with his flop 3-bet, he would have just called. He probably checked the turn weakly fearing a check-raise, and for some reason, he's not so afraid to give you a free river. If you check the river, he would bet and make a crying call if you check-raised. Expect to lose if he calls.

I would rather call for value here then bet. I mean, MP3 will call for value with 55-88 here, which seems like his possible holdings. He'll probably fold AK, AJ, AQ if you bet out. On the other hand, he may try to bluff with AK, AJ, AQ, sensing weakness on your behalf. I say check and call whatever he bets.

if this were a PP hand, you should bet this for value because aces call a lot. Live, you may be right, onegym.

Melan, hero is in position.
