In my opinion, there's another category of opponents, besides ones that will frequently checkraise with a worse hand, that we'd be better checking the turn against. Those opponents are those who will take our turn check as an invitation to steal on the river.

Exactly... there are 3 main scenarios here.

1) You are beaten and drawing to 2 outs or less.

2) You are ahead and they are drawing to 8 outs or less, but they won't bluff with a worse hand.

3) You are ahead and they are drawing to 8 outs or less, and they will bluff if you check.

I think that #3 is the most likely of scenarios. Maybe I give people too much credit for bluffing into "obvious" situations.

In situation #1 I want to put in 1 more bet MAX. If I can make that 1 more bet be on the river and see the showdown I will take it. In situation #2 and #3 I am losing a bet on the turn with them drawing, and losing the hand on the river without charging them for their draw. But I am making up that bet on the river when #3 misses his draw and bluffs me. I personally feel that the amount you make from missed draws bluffing make that play more profitable than the bet/fold on the turn play.

Now, out of curiousity... what does everyone do when they call your turn bet and check to you on the river? Do you valuebet and get C/Red by a completed draw or A/8 or A/9 hand? or just check behind? I say check behind since the only people calling you on the river are those with an Ace or a straight.

True, though I think it's important to realize that checking to induce a bluff really only makes sense if villain will also generally fold to a turn bet when behind anyway, and so checking is the only way to get money in from them. (Also, we need to be pretty confident villain doesn't have a lot of outs against us in which case we probably should bet anyway so we don't give up to much on the turn free card).
