At last, someone who has seen Westerns! Add, Once Upon a Time in the West, My Darling Clememtine, Stagecoach, Ride the High Country, Shane, Cheyenne Autumn, and Destry Rides Again. (Unforgiven does not crack the top ten.)

Best of all time: The Searchers

So I just didn't a little search, and I was really surprised that nobody in this thread has mentioned Posse.

Savages.

If we have to pick only one film, I agree that the "Searchers" should be #1.

Ford and Peckinpah were powerhouse directors, no doubt about it.

"The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance" is one of the few great American films that is not appreciated enough. It is true art.

Does "Last of the Mohicans" count?

If not I've got to throw in votes for Tombstone, Silverado, Unforgiven, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid.

Just for a laugh - The Quick and the Dead.

Amazingly enough we're right now sitting on exactly 64 movies (excluding some of the non-westerns mentioned).
Here are the 64:

A Few Dollars More
A Fistful of Dollars
A Man Called Trinity
Big Jake
Blazing Saddles
Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid
Cheyenne Autumn
Chism
Dances With Wolves
Dead Man
Destry Rides Again
El Dorado
Fistful of Dynamite
Fort Apache
High Noon
High Plains Drifter
Hombre
How the West was Won
Little Big Man
Lonesome Dove
McLintock!
My Darling Clementine
My Name is Nobody
Once Upon a Time in the West
Open Range
Outlaw Josey Wales
Paint Your Wagons
Pat Garrett and Billy the Kid
Posse
Red River
Red River
Ride the High Country
Rio Bravo
Rio Lobo
Rooster Cogburn
Shane
She Wore a Red Ribbon
Silverado
Sons of Katie Elder
Stagecoach
Support Your Local Sheriff
The Alamo
The Cowboys
The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
The Gunfighter
The Long Riders
The Magnificent Seven
The Man From Laramie
The Man From Snowy River
The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance
The Quick and the Dead
The Searchers
The Shootist
The Undefeated
The War Wagon
The Wild Bunch
Tom Horn
Tombstone
Trinity is Still My Name
Trinity Rides Again
True Grit
Unforgiven
Winchester 73
Young Guns

Please let me know if any of these should be replaced with other, more worthy candidates, or if you feel that there are some that don't qualify as westerns. I think we're going to allow comedies, since there are some really good westerns that could be considered comedies.

Finally, since no one mentioned these yet how about the following three:

Geronimo (with Jason Patric and Matt Damon)
Wyatt Earp (with Kevin Costner)
The Beguiled (Eastwood in one of his most different roles of his career)

Swede
