Default Vancouver, Canada casinos

I have to make a business trip into the Great White North, and am wondering if there are any cardrooms in the Vancouver area. If so, limits spread would be appreciated. Thanks.

No snow here, but anyway...go to River Rock, in Richmond, next to the airport. 20 tables. They spread from 2-4 to 20-40, occasionally higher on weekends. 2-3 NL games, 2-5, 500 max.

Since discussing Canadian casinos seems the topic of choice this morning, I had a question on buy-ins:

If I'm playing 8/16, and want to buy in for $400, do I buy in with American or Canadian bills? If I buy in for American, will they give me the correct exchange rate? Or, do the Canadian players here recommend I get Canadian money before entering the casino.

Similarly, when I cash out, will they give me the option to take American or Canadian money? In short, I'm not buying in for $400 American, get $400 in chips, and assuming I break even, cash out for $400 Canadian.

Thanks for the assist.

Bad exchange rate and not they wont give you US dollars when you leave. It is like we have our own country up here!!

See the thread about the guy who got barred from River Rock too. There is a different casino at Plaza of Nations ( Edgewater ?) downtown but it only has 4-8.

Last month I was visiting Vancouver and had the chance to play in a couple of card rooms for the first time in a long time.

The Gateway Casino occupies the third floor of a building in China Town. I wanted to try this one out as it was late and close to downtown where I was staying. The only limit offered was 4-8 Hold’em. With four tables and a must move when a spot is open on the next table. Now they don’t call it Chinatown for nothing at a table there was never any more than two non-orientals. The action was somewhere between fast and insane but as you move from the lower tables to the higher tables reason becomes more common as sort of a poker Darwinianism has naturally de-selected some of the madness. They have free soy milk and green tea and the food is all eaten with chop sticks and good. I stayed for about 5 hours and came out nicely ahead.
All in all I would go back except this is below the limits that I normally play.

At the River Rock you have to exchange your US$s at the cage, when I did so they asked me if I wanted them to hold them for me for when I left. So they will give you back at least your buy in back in US$s If you talk to the pit boss you may be able to get more back in US$s if they have it. I found them very cooperative

Use an ATM card. Deposit surplus CDN money in your bank when you return home.
