Default Common Stud 8 situation

On third you complete with a pair higher than anyone elses door card. You get one low card call. On fourth villain catches a low card, but not a good one, you catch low. Bet call. On fifth, he catches another 'bad' low and you catch small, now with 3 to a better low than his low. Do you continue?

Example:

You (Q3)Q26
Him (XX)387

What if your up 2 is an 8 (assuming the above is a continue)?

I have found myself in this spot a couple of times lately. Should I be checking on 4th if he catches decent and then check folding fifth or continue to drive?

It depends on more than you have told us, but my default in the situation you describe is to check/call fifth and re-evaluate on sixth.

In this specific situation I will take a card off because while villian may have a made low, it is unlikely that you are beat for high as he has no straight/flush potential. If he catches another good card on sixth and I brick off I will consider folding depending on the action.
