Default Borg Friday night trip report.

So we went to the borg friday night. Got there around 730 and checked in, the room was beautiful. Big, nice, roomy bathrooms. It was on the 43rd floor, beautiful view of downtown ac.

We headed down to the poker room and jumped on a list for 1/2 nlhe. It was about ten people long, so we figured we'd have a little wait. We went upstairs and palyed a few bucks worth of slots. After about ten minutes we got bored and went back down stairs. i was about to jump on a 3/6 table, but they then announced another 1/2 nlhe table.

my buddy and I were seated at a table and started playing aroun 815.

My first hand was QJd from third position. I raised and had 5 callers. just like i had expected. Flop comes out AT8 with two spades. I check and it checks around. turn comes Qh and i bet 10, three callers. River was a K. No flush draws on the board, so I have the nuts. I check, hoping to induce a check raise, but the other 2 check.

Just as I had expected, the table was loose passive. I picked up a fiarly good pot, obviously played it poorly, should have made a few more bucks on it, but i have never played no limit ring games at a casino, so i was a litle conservative the first half hour or so.

After that, I got raised out of a few pots and went down about fifty 9sat with 300).

Our table was a pretty common mix of what you'd expect at a casino. A couple guys who knew what they were doing. A coupe guys who had watched enough WPT to be dangerous, to themselves and others. One or two guys who actually really knew what they were doing and the requisute Phil Ivery/Unabomber/phil helmeuth wannabe who calls out everyone for making interesting calls and then calls an AI with J6o.

The play was pretty poor but I got good cards. I caught AA three times and KK 4 or so. I folded my AA once when a guy came over the top of me with 88x on the flop. I bet 20, he went to 100. I had caught him before trying to bully me and called one of his 2x pot bets, but had a feeling he had it.

A lot of guys calling down to the river with middle pair, or A high. I played pretty loose for my standards when I thought I could limp in, which benefitted me pretty well, usually there were five limpers in those cases.

All in all, I sat with 300, at 6 am, after 10 hours, I left the table up 375$. Not a bad haul. I was up over 450, but gave a bit back trying to make a big score before i left.

The poker room was real nice. Comfortable chairs, enough room. loads of tvs etc. The people were friendly, the pit boss/floor people were very nice and helpful. The dealers were all pretty good, one was alittle caustic, but most were very friendly and knowledgable.

i've only played poker at one other place (t stone), but this place was much nicer in the atmosphere and the people.

the borg itself was great, very nice place, the girls (my fiance and her friend) went to the big club there and had a good time, drinks were pricey, but that's to be expected. We had breakfast after 2 hours sleep and the buffet was pretty crappy, esp for 15 a pop, but whatever. We had a great time.

The only thing I'd change...Sam Adams in bottles. BOTTLES!!! they only had like Heiniken, Coors Light, and Corona in bottles. The other beers they brought on in these little 8 ounce juice glasses.

Other than that, good time.
