Default Tipping?

I like to play live 3/6 limit and 2/5 spread limit. I almost never tip. I pay 10% rake as it is. Does everyone think I'm a bastard at the table? How frowned upon is this? I see everyone tipping, and I don't see why. I'm there to make money, not make friends.

Tipping is what makes dealing profitable. They are providing a service. Just toss him a $1 when you rake a pot.

The dealers are also there to make money, and I'm not talking about the minimum wage salary that the casino pays them.

When I go to a restaurant I'm there to eat, not make friends, but I still tip my waiter. If nobody tipped waiters, even if their employers paid them the same wage they would have earned with tips, you would not receive nearly the same quality service. Similarly, if dealers were paid a straight wage and weren't expected to work for tips, you'd see a lot of slow/poor dealing. You should only withhold tips when your dealer is not performing his duties adequately. If you withhold tips when the dealer is doing his job well, yes, everyone at the table does think you are a bastard.

To quote a dealer I was talking to last night -

"It gets to the point where you dread when the guy that doesn't tip is going to win a pot, you start to root for the other guy."

So yes, you are a bastard, people notice, and it effects the game more than you would know. If you do not want to tip then play online.

Tipping $1 every pot you win won't kill you, dude.

I see where you are coming from. Because when you tip the dealers $1 every hand and the waitresses everytime they bring you a bottle of water it can add up to a few BB. The staff are their to make money too. Where I play all the dealers split the tips throughout the casino. So that $1 tip gets split 700 ways for all the blackjack dealers, poker dealers, etc. However I do tip, karma! And I do tip the waitresses, but not every drink.

yes, you should be tipping the dealers, but if you're going to a casino to make money you should know that games at those limits have such a huge rake that it's much more profitable to move up a level or two. 5/10 is not going to be any more difficult and %wise, the rake is smaller.

Default Tip when blinds won?

So say you raise and just win the blinds, who still tips? What about when you raise, the BB calls the raise, you bet the flop, and BB folds? Do you tip $1 from a $10 pot? I'm a good tipper, but I try not to tip pots like this... Thoughts?
