Default computer help please / possible virus?

first time ever tonight my very good computer started slowing down, something is eating up memory.

these programs seem to use the most CPU and mem when i got to task mgr:

ntdvm.exe
pcmservice.exe

both I have no idea why they are running, the first seems related to DOS programs or seomthing and the second to my music/sound software (why the heck it continues to eat memore after i stop playing music and sometimes even after I reboot is beyond me).

any suggestions would be hugely appreciated. tx!

Try downloading microsoft anti-spyware to see if either of those are spyware.

If that doesn't work, go to start-->run and type "msconfig"

Click on the startup tab, and disable anything that you do not explicitly know that you use (like antivirus, stuff like that).

Type those filenames into google and see what comes up. One at a time of course.
