If you call preflop with 88 and flop a set, then what on erth you wanted to see in this flop?? plus you had alredy way too much invested in this pot to lay it down. Ok if guy has AA, then you have bad beat.. Thats poker.

I think the final call really isn't significant here. I don't think I would have laid it down as villain only needs to have AK more than 16% of the time to make this profitable or more likely because I'm stubborn.

I think AA is very likely here. probably at least 75% in my opinion.

That said, I think the preflop call was more of a mistake.

Perfect post Amoeba.

Actually, if the OP knew that villian is only raising AA/KK in this spot, he shouldn't be reraising this flop. Villian either has top set or an underpair that's folding to the first sign of strength...

OP really had no reads until the final raise was put in and couldn't think of any hands he could beat(even though ak is here very often).

If I were Paul Phillips, I'd have a good comeback to this ridiculous remark... as I'm not, I'll just chuckle to myself.

What? That's utter nonsense. You are basically saying, "When I flop a set, I will go broke with it every time, even if it is clear that the opponent has a higher set." You really think AK pushes all in against a check raise?

I think Hero should lead out here, I hate check-raises because they lead to this. You should confidently get it all in on this flop and yes, while you will go broke to AA very occasionally, you will break AK, A8, A7, 77 every time..

I'm just curious why you don't think BB could have AK here? I normally wouldn't raise AK from the blind, but given description of button, I wouldn't mind putting money into the pot.

Now, that being said, I think BB has AA here about 75% of the time, but certainly less than the 85% or so that you're giving him credit for.
