Default 77 - Did I Play This Correctly?

Paradise Poker No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (8 handed) converter

MP1 ($10.00)
MP2 ($24.75)
CO ($19.60)
Button ($8.75)
SB ($56.35)
Hero ($24.75)
UTG ($19.00)
UTG+1 ($64.20)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 7[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img], 7[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img]. MP1 posts a blind of $0.25. SB posts a blind of $0.10.
2 folds, MP1 (poster) checks, MP2 raises to $1, 1 fold, Button calls $1, 1 fold, Hero calls $0.75, MP1 calls $0.75.

Not much info on MP2...however I've seen this player raise pre-flop then check/fold the flop a couple times so I wasn't too concerned. Not much on MP1 but from what I've seen he appears to be a semi-loose aggressive player.

Flop: ($4.10) 5[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img], 6[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img], 5[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (4 players)
Hero bets $0.75, MP1 calls $0.75, MP2 folds, Button folds.

Little bets got lots of respect, so I figured I'd throw a probe out there. I think the probe bet was way too small but the table was reacting to small bets like they were half/pot-sized so is a bet this small OK under these specific conditions?

Turn: ($5.60) 3[img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero bets $2, MP1 raises to $7, Hero calls $5.

I think I bet too little here, probably should have made it at least 1/2 to 2/3? His raise sucks but I figured he might be making a play on the pot with a short-stack, he doesn't have much left, so I call.

River: ($19.60) K[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img] (2 players)
Hero checks, MP1 bets $1.25, Hero calls $1.25.

I just checked because I figured he'd bet his last $1.25 regardless of what he had and I wasn't sure where I was at, maybe save $1.25 if it went check/check and he happens to have the better hand.

Final Pot: $22.10

Id bet about 1.5 to probe there, because I will re-raise you with overs there cause of that bet. I doesnt get or get much information. Even with teh table conditions I dont like it. On the turn I bet 3 and then fold to any more resistance/aggresion with that turn card. I lead the river, cause there are some fish that will fold there, ive seen it. I fold that turn however.

I agree on the probe, not much information is gleaned but in this case I got lucky with MP2 folding.

The turn, I'm not sure. Could you give me your reasoning behind folding? Am I not giving enough respect to the short-stack?

If you are putting villian on a draw, turn bet should be bigger to make him overpay on his odds.

I'm pretty weak tight. Even though you have an overpair, I would have a hard time calling the turn raise with 77.

Villain had 44. I won the pot but I'm still not sure about the turn. If villain had a deep stack, I would have probably folded to that raise. Should I be thinking in these terms or do I need to have more respect for the short-stack?
