Default What is with doctor\'s offices....

... and closing at lunch time?

My doctor has a large office with probably a staff of 10+, and yet they close for 60 - 90 minutes every day. Is there some legal reason... like a doctors office not being allowed to be open without a doctor on duty? I really dont get why they find it neccesary to shut down for lunch.

A lot of offices eat lunch while having their staff meetings.

Do law firms close for lunch? Smaller accounting firms? I really just dont see why they cant keep a person at the phone, at the least.

It's their inflated sense of self-importance and lack of understanding of the situation of the common folk.

I had a doctor try to charge me for being late to an appointment by 4 minutes. They tried to tack on an extra $20 to my bill.

I laughed at them, and didn't pay. Had to go back several weeks later, showed up on time and had to wait for 30 minutes. I bill out at $175 an hour (not a doctor or lawyer's rates or anything, but not bad for IT) and threatened the doctor with a bill for the 30 minutes I had to wait. They dropped the crap about owing them money for showing up 4 minutes late. Arrogant bastard. I never went back to him again.

In most offices pharmaceutical reps bring in free lunch every day...I unfortunately know this all to well...most offices don't close down though, they just eat in shifts
