Re: Beginning MTH v2
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I used it for about 40 minutes. Some problems: 1. Bet box entries using keyboard number keys, are not always communicated to the raise button (the default number stays on the button). When using the sliding bet adjustment, the button number changes appropriately. 1) This is a "bug" that i'm experiencing often too. I really can't say why it's happening, and as you've experienced, there isn't really a notable pattern. My experience though, is that it doesn't matter. Even if the button doesn't update, it should raise the entered amount. [/ QUOTE ] Actually, in my experience with this error so far, it has never raised the entered amount; it always raises the amount on the button. [ QUOTE ] 2) The current algorithm simply finds the "most unused quadrant". That is it runs from quadrant 1 to quadrant 16 and checks how many tables are in each quadrant. It does of course skip quadrants that are either out of the current monitor range, or that has been disabled. Then it checks which quadrant has the fewest tables, again starting from quadrant 1 going through 16. If it finds a quadrant with 0 tables, it'll use that one immediately, and won't bother checking the rest of the quadrants. The auto arrange feature was implemented with the though of people running a lot of tables with overlap. If you're running fewer tables it might be better to not use the auto arrange feature. [/ QUOTE ] I'm suprised that this will be a useful feature for most people. I do have a lot of overlap, with both screens. However, the overlap is too great for this feature to be useful (e.g., 10-14 tabling). The reason for this is that there really is no under used space. Where ever a table lands, it will be quickly, partially buried. The down side to this featue is that it makes it more difficult to follow the action when a table leaves the active site, because I am not sure where it is going, so it is more likely to be buried before I can drag it out of the pile (see below). The only downside to MTH is not getting feedback at the end of a hand b/c I can't find the table quickly enough. Such feedback is critical to continued improvement. My strategy to address this, is to increase overlap among tables, thereby leaving a clear area to which I can drag a table during an important hand. The advantage of this approach is that much less space is needed. This is why I was encouraging you to create a secondary space for such tables (i.e., equivalent to the space you've now created for tables that we are sitting out of, etc.) [ QUOTE ] 3) Turning on / off the auto arrange feature is one of those changes that requires a restart. It should of course not result in an error, but i will only take effect as the tables become active and not inactive again. When you say that the disappear, do you then mean outside the monitor, or just below other tables? [/ QUOTE ] It is gone. The only evidence of it is the button on the task bar blinking. I forgot to mention one continuing issue. It still thinks the dividing line between my monitors is ~3/4" inside my lap top screen. I think this might be specific to having my 2nd monitor to the right of my lap top. I think when it is set to the default (left) this didn't happen. Thanks again. I'm looking forward to the next round! |

Re: Beginning MTH v2
Just thought you should see this reply i got from Jeff at PokerStars. If there's any support section that keeps amazing me, it's most certainly PokerStars.
[ QUOTE ] Hello Mark, As many on our Poker Specialist staff are 2+2 readers and posters, and I myself am a multitabler, we are familiar with your application. I have been reading your "MTH 2" thread with interest, though I don't use MTH myself. (I prefer multi-tabling "natively" on multiple monitors, tables with no overlap). I have seen MTH in action, however, and can say that (at least in its current form as used by players on PartyPoker) if that version were PokerStars-aware, it would not violate our terms of service. Players could freely use the current implementation of MTH on PokerStars without any concerns at all. Please note that any features you might add would have to comply with our terms of service to retain this status: http://www.pokerstars.com/tos.html Notably, section 3.4, and the linked page: http://www.pokerstars.com/prohibited_programs.html So long as the software does nothing but move windows around, prompting players to act and handling the management of keyboard shortcuts instead of mouse commands, you'll be fine. Avoid any player profiling, and any automated playing features (i.e. don't fold the hand for them under any circumstances). I'm sure many players who use your MTH application on PartyPoker would love to also use it on PokerStars, especially now that we've raised our ring game maximum to 8 games. Please feel free to extend the capabilities of your program to handle the PokerStars program. Good luck! Best Regards, Jeff PokerStars Support Supervisor [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: Beginning MTH v2
After about 30 minutes with the latest version:
The tables are not consistently returning to their secondary spot after being active. Eventually all of them end up in the active spot. I tried turning off “keep active table in place…” and then the tables moved back without a problem. (I’m not using auto placement). It looks like the bet box problem remains (the number in the bet box doesn't show up in the raise button, and doesn't result in a proper raise (i.e. the default number on the raise button is the amount actually bet, regardless of what’s in the box). Overall, stable and groovy. Brett |
