Wow. Why not bring in Gordon to pitch to the righties? It's pretty clear that Torre doesn't trust any of the right handed options, but why does he trust Leiter more?

Edit: And now he brings in Proctor to get out the very sucky DeVanon after leaving in Leiter against the two good righties.

Relax. Only a ballgame. The Yankees simply didn't do enough things well tonight to win. Bad hitting and bad fielding is a bad combination.

I think the games the Yankees and Red Sox played today showed why I said I'd be surprised if either team made the World Series. Still might happen, but I think both teams' weaknesses are magnified, and their strengths diminished, against a quality team with good pitching.

Generally, in the home team's park, they'll give the batter a hit on the play, to help the batting average. It was a tough play, but not that tough. And a good throw would clearly have gotten him out. The ball took kind of a funny bounce, the second bounce on the grass.

I think Wang's gonna be a very good pitcher when he learns to vary his approach to the hitters second and third time through the lineup. Alternatively, he'd make a terrific relief pitcher, he's usually very tough the first couple of innings.

You know, when you are down 3 runs, you just tell yourself that 3 solo HR's will get you tied back up.

[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] helps only when the other team makes as many errors as they score runs.
