270ish left, 11111 average... new table, 300/600 blinds no reads; you have 7225 UTG w/88. You limp, unknown mp w/7700 stack limps, 18000 stack mp pops it to 1900, folded to you. You call, mp pushes 7700, big stack folds, you call. Thoughts?

[/ QUOTE ]

I generally am prepared to raise with this and raise it up and reevaluate if need be.

as stated I probably push after the 1900 raise

This is why I hate open limping at this stage of the tournament.

Are you the "unknown" mp who called then pushed 7700? Or the big stack mp who raised then folded?

Very constructive, thanks. I figured I was new at the table, and the utg limp could be anything. I called figuring I'd have a well-disguised TpTk if an A or K hits- if he had AA or KK, so be it. When the big stack raised and the ep called, I had him on AQ or a medium pp. With the extra equity in there, I pushed. Obviously not how I normally play AKo, trying something new.

Default In the money...

But just 8K left with blinds at 500/1000. Went card dead and was at an aggressive table. Not too much I could do.

When I had about 11L, Iopen-raised JTs to 2000 from MP, got called in 2 places and gave up on it on a flop of 225, figuring someone had to have an overpair.

First caller (BB) checked, I checked, second caller (LP) bet 3000 (into a pot of 6500). BB calls. I fold. Turn is an A, they both get all in and both have AK. Doesn't seem clear I could have pushed both of them off of it anyway....

having 13x is honestly not the time to try something new with AKo, imo

Default Hi all!

Here's a situation for you. Just got moved to a new table 2 minutes ago, dealt AKo UTG+1. I open for a standard 2600 and someone in MP goes all-in for like 30k. Everyone folds and I have like 16k left in my stack.

I folded on the theory that AK is not the hand to call an all-in, but... who knows. Hard to deal with a completely unknown player sometimes.

I'm lucky to be in the money at all... was down to like 5xBB during the last hour, went all-in with Q5s from CO, SB called with AK but I sucked out. Couple hands later I open-raised with JJ, BB got me all-in with QQ (I had him slightly covered), but a J flopped. So I'm playing on borrowed time, just like always!

One thing that's always amusing is how a play like the Q5 can get you berated by the all-knowing railbirds for hours. "One of the worst plays I've ever seen," one of them said, "raising into a couple big stacks with Q5." Well, yes, if it was up to me, I'd rather not be to the right of a couple big stacks, but it's not like it was up to me! I suppose the "good" players like him just magically pick up AA in that spot...
