Excellent. You have undoubtedly listed the two greatest centers, the four greateset forwards, and the four greatest guards.

"Wilt played against a bunch of white guys so taints his numbers in my opinion."

Walt Bellamy, Nate Thurmond, Bill Russell, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Wes Unseld, Willis Reed. He once pulled down fifty-five rebounds in a game against Russell.

Wilt (Jabbar)
Malone (Duncan)
Bird (Baylor)
Jordan (West)
Johnson (Robertson)

I could be wrong, but I doubt it.

Well... Thanks for killing the thread

Just kidding. As the first to bring Jerry West and Elgin Baylor (guy averaged 38 points and 18 boards in a season and doesn't get mentioned?) into the discussion, you win.

I think I would put Russel into the second team instead of Jabbar, and I'd switch Robertson and Johnson around for point guard. Other than that it's a pretty solid list.

Oh, and I'd take Jordan as my all time defensive player over Pippen.

I miss the era where guards were just guards, not shooting , point, one's , or two's. Oscar, West, Clyde, Pearl,Goodrich, these guys would handle or shoot equally well. The degree of specialization in all sports has resulted in a deterioration of all around skills.

I think Magic, Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, Iverson, Wade, and a lot of others would disagree.

Seems like the easy positions are shooting guard and center, where Wilt and Jordan are obvious. I'm tempted to just throw Bird, Magic and Oscar Robertson out there, but then you are lacking a real power forward.

You've picked the cream of the crop who are among the best players ever. I'm talking about a Stephen Marbury who looks lost if he isn't dribbling out the 24 sec clock. An Alan Houston, who is a 1 dimensional player who couldn't direct an offense if his life depended on it. Just a couple of examples.

I'll hazard a guess that there were one dimensional players in all eras of basketball.
