how long would it take you to get out of the car if a cop was pointing a taser at you and YELLING,

"Get out of the car or I am going to tase you!"
"Get out of the car or I am going to tase you!"
"I'm going to tell you one more time, get out of the car or I am going to tase you!"

seriously? i can't believe she sat there on the phone saying, "he's gonna shoot me"...i think the second time was too much - but the first one was completely clear to her what was going to happen and she could've easily complied and avoided it.

As it should be clear from my post, I would not put myself in that situation.

I would cooperate with the police.

I would have started by simply handing over my license, registration and proof of insurance when asked.

No way, especially when you consider the fact, SHE WAS UNDER ARREST and refusing to comply with the order to step out of the vehicle.

[/ QUOTE ]

Hate to come down on the "left side of this again" but (and I need to go watch the video again to be sure) I never heard the words "you are under arrest , step out of the vehicle". I don'r believe the word "Arrest" was used until she was on the ground.

[ QUOTE ]
perhaps this is when she "took a swing.")

Second point - if you have all your attention focused in one direction (particullary women are prone to this) and someone grabs at you from your blind side, most people's first reaction is to pull away and swat away the grabbing hand. Sorry - that's NOT assult.

I imagine that most lay people would assume he was pointing a gun at them.

It doesn't matter if he stated she was under arrest. As a matter of fact, police usually do not tell people they're being arrested until they're out of the car, so they don't just try to drive off. The fact is, he told her to get out of the car, and she didn't comply. If she hadn't been getting arrested, I would have focused my blame on the cop for acting irrationally to ask her to get out the car. However, since he was just doing his job and she wasn't doing what he told her to do, tasing her was completely justafied. I also should add that tasing someone is safer for both the police and the individual than trying to wrestle someone out of a car.

There are some unbelievably bleeding-heart posts on this thread. How stupid do you have to be to disobey a request from a police officed pointing a gun at you, multiple times?

How stupid do you have to be MAKE A PHONE CALL during an encounter with the police? The police in this case were trying to do their jobs, and she was not cooperating. And regarding the race issue, there is a video on that same page about some young WHITE punk who got tased too. And in this situation, I'm a sure a non-complying white person would have been tased as well.

Regarding the negative health effects of being tased; I don't know one way or the other. Could anyone post a link to a definitive article? I personally have never heard of a taser inducing health problems.
