This is clearly against the rules at the WSOP.

If I had the option I would VERY strongly consider getting my seat in the main-event changed to $10k in Stars W$ to use in a variety of other smaller events.

I think that many more players would do it this way also.

If I could have done this on Empire I would have jumped at the opportunity, then if I did well in prelims I would buy directly into the M.E., so yes, lots of players would attempt to do this.

There is a happy ending to my story thanks to Pokerstars. Here is Lee Jones' letter:

Hi XXX

It's unfortunate you got into that situation. After all, our rules on this
are quite clear:

http://www.pokerstars.com/2005wsop/tandc.html

http://www.pokerstars.com/2005wsop/faq.html

In particular, item #10 in the terms and conditions:

------
The first package (entry fee plus travel expenses and/or hotel
accommodations) to the events that you win, whether through cash satellite,
FPP satellite, or in any other way, is non-transferable and non-
exchangeable. If you win, you must play or forfeit the package. If you win
additional satellites, you will be credited 10,000 W$ and $1,000 in cash.
------

I also read your comments on 2+2. Frankly, I'm disappointed that you
weren't able to get a straight answer from Party's support. At least
you're getting a straight answer here.

Because of your long and loyal history with us, we're going to make an
extremely unusual exception for you. We will let you apply $10,000 credit
to any of the earlier WSOP events THAT ARE TELEVISED. If you go to our
client main lobby, and select Events -> WSOP -> Qualifiers, you'll see a
list of all the events that are televised. The ones that we can get you
into start with #9 on June 10th, then #11, 13, 22, 23, 27, 28, 33, and 35.

Please let us know immediately which combination of those (or even just
event #35 by itself) you wish to play. Of course, we will expect you to
wear PokerStars gear during whatever preliminary events you play.

And one other thing: I expect you to spread the word about the difference
in response between PokerStars and Party support. We're not the biggest
online poker site in the world, but I'll take our customer support
operation against *anybody* else's in the world, and lay the points.

Best regards,
Lee Jones

Consider it done This really shows Party for the scumbags they are, and that Stars are a different class altogethor.

I think when laurentia plays in the WSOP main event (using the Party ticket) s/he should have a PokerStars shirt on under the Party shirt. Once things get going, take off the Party shirt. They don't deserve to use you as an advertising board.

I'm certainly going to play all my WSOP qualifiers at Stars from now onwards.

Neither the sites nor Harrah's profit from no-shows. The players in the tournament do.

[/ QUOTE ]

Harrah's don't deduct a fee then? Party didn't buy bulk for hotel rooms? Okay for sure the players profit, but Harah's and Party are doing okay out of this too.

It's also against WSOP rules for the same player to be registered twice....

wow, very impressive. Has anyone ever had a bad experience with Stars support? Seems like nothing but class from them whenever any sort of issue comes up.
