Default Re: THE LIST

Nice, looking forward to meeting and competing with some of the other posters.

I just got a new guy trained up at work, so I was able to take today off. Planned to hit the morning tourney, but Jenn and I couldn't sleep so we drove down to Foxwoods and arrived around 2am.

Played some $1-$3 7-card stud (thought I was sitting down at the 1-5 tables at the time) and found it to have LOTS of loose action, plenty of chasers and to be more profitable than my times spent at the 1-5 tables.

Started with $100, got my stack up to $250 at one point, but left with $225 in the end. Not a bad rate for less than 3 hours of poker (over 40 bucks an hour)

If only Foxwoods was closer, I really think I could easily supplement my income, perhaps replace it altogether and play poker full-time eventually. The lower limit 7-stud table was great compared to a typical $1-$5 table. On the 1-5 tables usually you wind up heads-up against someone. At the 1-3 table, you'll get 3-6 callers on a regular basis. So when you hit your hands you make a good amount of change.

My first big hit was when I was dealt Q/K in the hole and a K on board. I raised it up and got a number of callers. Some black kid who had planned this to be his last hand winds up catching an Ace on his next card, and then pairs it on the card after that (the same time I catch a Q for two pair). He keeps calling my bets and raises me on 6th street. On the river I catch another King in the hole and bet out, he raises, I re-raise, he re-raises. He flips over his trip Aces and I show him the boat and take down a nice pot.

Another nice hand was when I was dealt 4/4 in the hole and a 9 on the board. I pair my 9's on the next card and bet out, and get about 4 callers. then I catch a 9 on the board again, showing trips (wish I had caught a 4 on the board, but oh well). I get one caller, who calls me all the way to the river. He had an 8/4 of spades on the board, and a 5/7 of spades in the hole. He was chasing that one 6 of spades to try and straight flush and beat me, and he paid to try it.

This one fat guy at the end of the table always assumed I had nothing, always figured me for a bluffer. He'd just call and call with terrible hands. One hand I was dealt Q/Q in the hole and an 8 on the board. I raised it up and he called. Then I catch a 5 and keep betting, then pair my 8's and keep betting again. He said "all you've got is those 8's" but he laid down.

One bad hand saw me catch 10/J/Q/8/K and I desperately needed a 9 or an Ace. Well, the lady I was up against wound up catching two Aces on the board.......and she had the other two in the hole! Good thing I never caught my straight. All-in-all, a good time. Didn't get around to playing any tournaments or satellites to the main event, but I'm happy with my take for the day, makes up for me missing work today.

Hey Kilgore! Last we spoke (i.e. at yesterdays 7-stud game) you said you only had 14 of the 2+2'ers actually get in touch with you and confirm for sure. Any further updates?

Can we get a list of who the 2+2'ers are on that list of 14?

The 14 are just those not in red. I would be interested to hear if there are any updates on attendance as well.

Make sure you email Dan (aka Kilgore) and let him know you want in. Just posting here isn't enough I don't believe. Hope to see you there!

Hmmm.....I would say give the guys in red maybe a week or so, and if you don't hear anything, give seats out to the wait listers who are chomping at the bit to play. Your call of course, I just can't wait to compete against some fellow 2+2'ers.

*I reserve the right, should I win hundreds of thousands of dollars during the NE Poker Classic, to cancel my seat, travel to Japan and pick up some Asian triplets.....and take 5 months off*
