Default BlackJack newbie.

I've never played blackjack or bonus whored, but I thought I'd give this a shot.

I was pretty resigned to losing my entire buy in when I went under a hundred bucks (ran through the bonus and went under my buy in) around a third of the way through. But I managed to clear fifteen bucks. Mostly just bopped around between 85 and 110 dollars the rest of the way, though I was as low as 76 and as high as 133 bucks.

So I was glad to clear the fifteen after that rocky start, even though my expected value apparently was about plus 90 bucks. It was kinda interesting, though a bit boring toward the end...I think I'll keep concentrating on poker...

I simply followed the strategy chart religiously (I messed up three times, which I figure isn't too bad for a newby). I played one hand at a time for two bucks (so it took a while . Plus my old wheezy computer hung up 8 or 9 times during the process.

Is there any advantage or disadvantage besides speed to playing multiple hands at a time?

Oh, and for tax purposes, since all "profit" came from the bonus (I would think that technically I actually lost 85 bucks but got a hundred dollar bonus for playing)...is that a gambling win or other income? Pretty sweet if I can deduct the 85 dollar loss and put the income in other.

Well I decided to forsake my easy money at the $55 SnG's on party to try whoring myself. I lost $26 in 2 hrs. I definately had some bad luck or the game is rigged. But considering a lot of you won, it must have been bad luck. I just finished Monday night playing. Maybe they changed the code.

I was playing (and below $200) when I lost connection with the server. When I logged back on, I only had $85. Waiting on a response from "support." It seems like the $100 just disappeared (and I haven't cleared the bonus).

You ended up about 1.4 SD's below EV. This will happen a shade over 8% of the time. In other words, it is expected that 1 in 12 posters will respond complaining about losing $26 or more. People are too quick to blame losses on rigging.

-- Homer

EDIT - Note -- this assumes you bet $2/hand. If you bet more, such a result is even more likely.

Thinking about this a little more...

Suggesting that a casino is rigged after having a result like this is exactly the same as accusing a poker site of being rigged after somebody catches a gutshot draw on the river to suck out on you.

You seem to be pretty sharp, so I find it amusing that you didn't pay full attention to my post. I suggested that the casino could be rigged, but did not accuse it to be so. I even said it probably wasn't. I have no clue, and neither do you. They have everything to gain by tweaking their code a little, and we'd have no clue.

That being said, I either had some bad luck or the game is rigged. Concidering it's an online casino, I don't have much faith in their integrity. I decided they were reputable enough for me to put $100 into, so that says something.

Anyway, thanks for posting the info. No thanks for trying to be a jerk. Next time you might want to pay full attention to the posts you reply to.

You should be flattered that he bothered to respond at all to the garbage in your first post.

What you actually said was that the only reason you chose bad luck over a rigged game was the fact that others had reported wins. Even then, your 'maybe they changed the code' comment at the end told us you were reluctant to do so.

So, Homer is a jerk for pointing out to you some basic maths about the game? Rather than take cheap shots at one of the most valued posters on here why not try to understand some of what he's telling you - its obviously a knowledge gap for you at present.

Default Or just don\'t take Homer\'s tips

I will.....I am 1 for 1. I made over 1000% on my investment (deposit at Luckey Nugget). I had car problems that I used the profits on, otherwise I could have run the table on all those casinos BEFORE they got wise and change the run through requirements.

Anyone who posts "thanks for making me lose my money" type posts......are just ignorant.

Personally I hoovered around $200 (deposit+bonus) for a while, felt ecstatic when I passed the $300 mark, and hated the whole world, when I ended up at a total of $82. However I'm still convinced that the dealr had more BJ's with his 1 hand than I did with 3 times as many hands

Anyway, I don't blame the system of being rigged, i'm just interested in knowing the chance/risc that this result happens?

Default getting the facts straight

Let's examine my post shall we? I said that is was probably bad luck. I then posted that I played Monday night which was after the majority of the money won posts were made. Therefore, can you not see that I suggested a code change was possible by Cherry Casino after the weekend? hmmm, not too far of a stretch I think.

In additon, I read a post of a player saying that a site had video poker in which the player had an advantage by playing optimally. Then they said the code was changed the problem corrected. Yes, very similar to my posting. hmmm....

The only garbage post here was yours. I posted a date and time of my play. Which helps establish time frames, and possible code changes.

Homer's post was valid about the math. His crack about people complaining about rigged games was unfounded. He didn't pay full attention to my post, and neither did you. Nobody would expect every BJ player who took advantage of the bonus to make money, the house always has an edge, even if you play optimally. My post was just to ensure others keep their eyes open and don't think it's all easy money.

I find it very amusing when people like you go off for no reason. If Homer can't take a little criticism, he shouldn't be trying to dish it out. That goes for you too.
