So rather than push every hand into the short stacks at his table he's (I'm guessing half seriously but still) offering 50K to break the bubble up?

Well, I guess I know why my '3 hands' estimate was wrong.

Title: Howard Lederer Wants to Keep the Action Going
Log: At ESPN's Featured Table, Howard Lederer is bored by the slow-down in play. He wandered over to the media area, saying, "I'll put up the forty, and we can get back to playing." He was referring to $40,000, which would roughly be enough to get an extra four people in the money so this burtally boring hand-for-hand situation would be over.

It would actually cost Lederer $50,000 to sneak four more people in the money, but I don't think an extra ten grand would deter him. He's that bored. "

[/ QUOTE ]

my first reaction to this was "geez... have some patience" then I did a little math .. 8 hands in almost 2 hours??? Holy crap that is slow and boring. Maybe Howard's onto something.

my other first reaction:
I wish I had $50k sitting around that I could offer up because "I'm bored." My life must really suck more than I think it does.

Have we found out if this is our esteemed Toro? The last name is a bit off (Toro's name ends in a different vowel).

[/ QUOTE ]

Nope. It's not Toro. Got the word from the horse's mouth.

No, unfortunately not. I'm stuck back here in Wormtowne like Dan. And I gave it such an effort this year to qualify. If only that one Double Shootout that I entered didn't get cancelled.

Now if this guy from New Jersey that stole my name wins it, I'm going to have to put up with the damned autograph hounds.

I think it'd only been 1 hour (cards went in the air at 12:40 PDT), but that's still excruciatingly slow.

The only thing more mind-numbing than sitting there waiting that thing out must be sitting at work clicking 'refresh' while they're sitting there waiting that thing out.
