The beginning of Tom Sawyer has this ridiculous noise-- put it on you will see.
Paradise City doesn't really start until Axl Rose blows the whistle. That whole beginning part is build up. |

I'd count Tom Sawyer as an intro.
Paradise City...ehhh... sort of, but not quite. You also mentioned Van Halen... Eruption is its own song, but when played on radio, it's an intro to You Really Got Me. |

If you like good intros, you should listen to some drum and bass. That music is the king of spacey funked up sort of intros followed by a punch-in-your-gut drop into the real song.

[ QUOTE ]
I love songs that have kick-a** intros. I nominate PF's The Wall, ACDC's "Thunderstruck" and "For those about to Rock (We salute you)". Give me some more examples of great intros to great songs! [/ QUOTE ] If you like ACDC intros try "Down Payment Blues" off of Powerage. polltard |

How about some of Brian Wilsons "pocket symphonies"
I like the intro to California Girls and Wouldnt it be Nice. Johnny B. Goode ~Chuck Berry Kick out the Jams~MC5 Shakey Ground~Temptations Killing Floor~Jimi Hendrix (I dont know if these 2 count cause theyre repeated throughout) Pinetop's Boogie Woogie~Pinetop Perkins But my Personal Favorite is Clarence Carter's intro in Making Love/At the dark end of the street. |
