[/ QUOTE ] Last year I was playing a tournament and some weenie kept bitching at me about this rule. What I did was tap in a 6 inch putt standing behind the ball, using the back of my putter. I tried explaining to him the reason why they have the rule is so that people can't putt croquet style all the time, like Snead did. It shouldn't matter if it's just a tap in. But he didn't care about logical reasoning, so I had to stop doing it.

I don't think Brian Gay was DQ'd. It cost him getting in a playoff, if memory serves.
Azinger was DQ'd (I think) years back for kicking a pebble out from under his foot while preparing to hit his ball out of a water hazard. Viewer calls in. Tape is reviewed. Next day Azinger finds out about it. Sux.
