Finding out the likelihood of any particular number is straightforward, and thus finding the most likely number is not too straining. But finding the expected value is more tricky, and I suspect, involves some nasty(ish) integration. It is further complicated if you consider the non uniformity of the birthdate distribution. More people are born in spring than any other time of the year (think about it). |
