Being that I do not play PL or NL often, please elaberate the reasons why this is an advantage.

Our game was 10 handed, I'm positive that was a -EV move (but I won the pot anyway... what a fool I am!).

well, if you straddle on the button, you make the pot bigger when you are in position, and allow yourself to act last before the flop as well as postflop. since, in a 3-handed big bet game, few hands are likely going to showdown, having bigger pots when you are in position is a tremendous advantage.

Victor, is he still alive? I was worried about him when I left. He was about 10 sheets to the wind when I left. It was great to meet everyone. I wish I could have hung around a bit more.
