Re: NYC poker raid?
An interesting thing... yesterday morning I received an email from NYPC with a very well laid out newsletter... clearly someone put time into it. This wasn't just a little text file giving their hours and games. The most interesting part is how out in the open they were. They were promoting the players and the games as well as their new plasma TVs and their "Poker Dealing School." In the first paragraph of the newsletter it says:
[ QUOTE ] First and Foremost, we would like to thank you for making [NYPC] the premier place in New York City to play poker. We look forward to serving you in the years to come. Pass this email along to friends & family... [/ QUOTE ] One article was about their "Employee of the Month." I found that hysterical -- there was a picture of him and everything. If you ask me, I don't want to be the Employee of the Month, with my name and picture emailed all over the city, at a poker club of very questionable legality (questions were answered last night, it seems). They were also pushing a $200+15 memorial day tournament at 3PM. I am guessing that this event has been postponed. |

i don't even know how that employee got picked, he can be awful, and generally gets pissed off at tournament players waaay too easily.

Re: NYC poker raid?
Its funny.. I hadn't been there for a few weeks but after getting the newsletter yesterday decided I'd go tonight. I guess not...
Hope they got a good deal on those 'brand new plasma tvs' they were bragging about. |

[ QUOTE ]
A person can be arrested and held with no charge if no ID is found, if there was suspected criminal activity. Technically the police can hold the individual until a positive ID is made. [/ QUOTE ] There's a difference between "arrested" and "detained" isn't there? |

Re: NYC poker raid?
and for those who claim it's "illegal" not to carry ID, what ID is "required"??? I don't know of any law that says you HAVE to get a drivers license, passport, etc. Don't be a sheeple.
